Insufficient knowledge, poor judgment, weak technical skills, lack of discipline, shortage of properly functioning equipment, and meager technical support all contribute to airway-related complications resulting in brain damage or death. This book on airway management focuses on the technical aspects of intubation and ventilation, illustrated with photographs to demonstrate and reinforce the concepts.
The book, divided into 10 sections, contains 34 chapters, 293 pictures, and 10 tables. The chapters range from 2 to 17 pages long. Each chapter follows this sequence: concept, literature evidence, techniques demonstrated by pictures, indications, contraindications, complications, and a short reference list. One goal of this book is to help practitioners learn the use of various airway devices for safe management of the airway. The author has achieved this goal.
