The use of robotics in urologic surgery is an emerging and constantly evolving area of study. With each new year, novel implementations of robotic surgery are being presented, with wider and more innovative applications, ranging from oncology to pediatric surgery. Procedures that were once solely performed by surgeons at tertiary academic institutions are now being performed with increasing frequency by general urologists, as access to and familiarity with the robotic systems has increased.
With Robotic Urologic Surgery, Dr Patel has assembled some of the pioneers and leaders in the growing field of robotic surgery in urology and, in doing so, produces the first definitive textbook on robotic applications for genitourinary conditions.
The book is very engaging, with well-chosen topics that address the field in 3 sections: introduction, application, and technique. The text opens with a brief history of robotic surgery and a description of the general features of the specialty, . . . [Full Text of this Article]
