Treatment advances and discoveries in prostate cancer tumor biology are rapidly developing areas of medicine. Treatment decisions therefore require patients and physicians to stay abreast of recent findings in this field. The editors of this volume in the series Recent Results in Cancer Research state in the preface that their work is intended as a review of both "the growing body of knowledge regarding epidemiology, pathogenesis, prevention, screening, diagnosis, and staging" and "the evidence surrounding current treatment approaches" to guide treatment selection by urologists and patients. The book is a scholarly and satisfactory summary of many established findings. In some areas, however, more attention might have been focused on newer concepts entering clinical trial designs and a detailed, comprehensive discussion of some new molecular insights on the diversity of clinical outcomes.
