New Innovation Web Site Helps Spread Ideas Through the Health Care Community

A federally sponsored Web-based initiative enabling users to learn about and share innovative ideas for improving health care delivery is now up and running.

The Health Care Innovations Exchange (http://www.innovations.ahrq.gov) was launched April 14 by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). It began with 100 examples of innovations (or unsuccessful attempts at innovation) in the delivery of health care.

For example, users can learn how house calls to frail older patients reduce costs, hospital use, and nursing home placements; or that e-mailing improves communications and access to pediatricians for patients and families. Additional examples will be added as the site is updated every 2 weeks.
