In Reply: Drs Casale and van Wijk state that neither the AAAAI nor the EAACI specifically endorsed the PRACTALL consensus report. Although I do not disagree, I note that the PRACTALL EAACI/AAAAI consensus report pocket guide ("Diagnosis and treatment of asthma in childhood"),¹ available on the EAACI Web site, features the logos of both academies. The guide cites both academies endorsing the PRACTALL initiative, of which the consensus report is a part. In addition, a press release from the EAACI ("Europe and US together against childhood asthma")² announced the publication of the consensus report. In the press release, Nikos Papadopoulos, vice president of the EAACI, was quoted: "Guidelines for childhood asthma were a major unmet need. It is fortunate that a consensus of a wide panel of international experts was reached. We are now looking forward to the results of the implementation."
