Since this article does not have an abstract, we have provided the first 129 words of the full text and any section headings.

More than one-third of US adults and 12% of children reportedly use complementary or alternative therapies, according to results from a 2007 survey released by the National Center on Complimentary and Alternative Medicine. The 2007 National Health Interview Survey, an annual survey of US individuals, gathered information about the health habits of 23 393 adults and reports from adults on the use of complementary or alternative interventions in 9417 children and adolescents (http://nccam.nih.gov/news/camstats.htm).

The use of such therapies for colds among adults has decreased substantially since 2002, from 9.5% to 2%; the use of deep breathing, meditation, massage, and yoga increased significantly during the same period.
